About Eden Valley Orchards

EdenVale Winery utilizes grapes grown across the entire range of the Rogue Valley. One of the keystones of our Rhone varieties program is the magnificent Serenade Vineyard on the eastern side of Ashland. Hot summer days, warm evening breezes and chilly nights typify the climate at Serenade. Perched at 2100’ on a southwest facing slope, the noble Syrah and Viognier grapes thrive and achieve luscious ripe flavors at lower sugar levels than grapes grown at lower elevations. EdenVale Winery exclusively purchases the entire crop grown at Serenade vineyard. Moving westward down the valley, EdenVale sources grapes from several vineyards in the lovely bench lands of Talent. Bordeaux varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot soak in the sunshine on the well-drained west facing slopes of the Wagner Creek area, while Grenache and Morvedre grown on the Pioneer bench add diversity and complexity to our Rhone style blends.

Grapes grown in the picturesque Carpenter Hill area make up the backbone of EdenVale Winery’s Merlot program, the majority of which make it into our acclaimed Claret bottling. Still more Bordeaux varieties, Cabernet Franc and Malbec, sourced in the hot Gold Hill area, are used for both varietal bottlings, as well as to add elements of complexity to our Claret. Traveling further west into the Siskiyou Mountains, Tempranillo has found a home in the Applegate Valley. Rocky, former riverbed vineyards literally a stone’s throw from the pristine Applegate River, have an extremely wide swing from daytime high temperature to cold nights. These conditions mirror the climate of the Ribiera Del Duero region in Spain, where some of the worlds most sought after Tempranillo wines are grown. Still further west towards the coast, the Illinois River Valley stays relatively cool during the summer, allowing the Pinot Noir vineyards to slowly ripen their grapes. This cool climate retains the vibrancy of Pinot Noir, while a diverse selection of clonal material, make EdenVale winery’s Pinot noir one of the most complex and inviting available.
